HONOR announced its Magic7 series smartphones today. Both vanilla and ‘Pro’ models have been announced. We’ve already covered the Magic7 Pro launch, and are here to focus on the vanilla variant.

The HONOR Magic7 is inferior to the ‘Pro’ model, but still a high-end phone

The HONOR Magic7 is slightly smaller and cheaper than the ‘Pro’ model, of course. It’s made out of metal and glass, and it does resemble its larger sibling. It also has a flat display, but it includes a regular camera display hole, not a larger pill-shaped one. The Magic7 does not come with 3D facial scanning, which is why. It does include regular facial scanning via the front-facing camera.

The bezels on the phone are thin, and HONOR used a flat display here. The frame all around is flat, but it does curve a bit towards the edges. Three cameras sit inside the phone’s camera island on the back, which is centered up top.

It has a big, bright AMOLED display and Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC

HONOR opted for a 6.78-inch 2800 x 1264 AMOLED display here. It’s an LTPO OLED panel with an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120Hz. The bezels are very thin and uniform here, by the way. This phone supports high PWM dimming at 4,320Hz, and a peak brightness of 5,000 nits.

Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite processor fuels this handset. It has the same chip as the ‘Pro’ model, even though some rumors suggested that the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 could be included instead.

There are three different models on offer in China, in regards to RAM and storage. One 12GB RAM model is on offer, with 256GB of RAM. The 16GB RAM variant comes in both 512GB and 1TB flavors. LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage are used by HONOR.

100W wired & 80W wireless charging is supported here

A 5,650mAh battery sits on the inside of this phone. The device supports 100W wired and 80W wireless charging. Android 15 comes pre-installed, along with HONOR’s MagicOS 9.0.

The camera setup is a bit different than on the ‘Pro’ model, as expected. The HONOR Magic7 includes a 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.3-inch sensor size, f/1.9 aperture, 24mm lens, OIS), along with a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit (f/2.0 aperture, 122-degree FoV, 2.5mm macro). A third camera is also a 50-megapixel one, a periscope telephoto unit (3x optical zoom, f/2.4 aperture, OIS, 50x digital zoom).

The HONOR Magic7 measures 162.1 x 75.8 x 7.95mm, while it weighs 199 grams. The phone comes in Bronze, Moonlight (silver), Show Domain White (White), Sky Blue (metallic blue), and Velvet Black (black) colors. Its pricing starts at CNY4,499 ($631) in China. It will cost more globally, of course.
