Everything New in Samsung’s One UI 7 Update

Samsung teased One UI 7 at SDC earlier this month, but the company didn’t really announce much about the next version of its OS. However, we can now show you what will be new in One UI 7.

First off, new icons. This has been shown off many times already, but Samsung is adding icons that will be easier to identify. That’s something Google needs to do now that almost all of its icons look the same. Samsung is also introducing smart notification management, as well as an enhanced lock screen, which will make it easier to see what’s going on.

Homework help with Circle to Search is coming to One UI 7. Google actually announced this feature at Google I/O in May, however, now it is coming in One UI 7 to Samsung devices. Essentially, you can use Circle to Search to help with Math and Physics problems, as well as history. Google will show you explainers, videos, and results to help you with your homework instead of doing it for you. And this can all be done without switching apps.

Samsung is adding Parental Controls to keep your kids safe

With One UI 7, Samsung is also adding new Parental Controls, which can be used to keep your kids safe on the Internet. Parents will be able to let their kids access certain sites and apps and block others. You can also check their physical location, making sure that they are getting home from school safely. Eliminating the need to install apps like Life360.

Samsung is also enhancing a slew of photo features in One UI 7. This includes using Live Effects on your pictures to add depth. You’ll also be able to easily restyle your portraits using AI. There are a number of AI-generated artistic effects available to transform your pictures into ones that stand out on Facebook, Instagram, and X. Using the Pro Visual Engine, Galaxy can use AI Zoom (that’s always learning) to capture clear zoom shots, even at 100x.

Samsung is also adding more options to Sketch to Image. This is a feature that debuted on the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Fold 6 with One UI 6.1.1 back in July. Essentially, you can draw any image from scratch, and Generative AI can bring that sketch to life. It’s done in a few different styles, including 3D Cartoon, Sketch, and Watercolor.

Reach your fitness goals with Energy Score

Another feature that debuted with the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Fold 6, along with the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra, is Energy Score. It’s getting a few updates to make it even more useful. With your Energy Score, you can become more aware of your health effects and daily life. Samsung also has Wellness Tips that will help you improve your Energy Score every day.

Of course, One UI 7 is secure, thanks to Samsung Knox. Security is a big priority for Samsung; whether you’re simply browsing the internet, using banking apps, or snapping photos, Samsung Knox has you covered.

We should be seeing the first beta of One UI 7 before the end of the year, with the stable version launching in 2025. A big part of why the update is taking so long is due to all the changes the Samsung is making.
