The Excel Series Giacomo Turra Bedford SH is a unique guitar that reimagines the brand’s popular Bedford SH design. It has some great unique features and is Giacomo Turra’s new signature model.
Semi-Hollow
This signature model offers the rich tone and resonance of a semi-hollow model combined with the comfortable feel and playability of a solid body.
Supro Gold Field
It comes with the new Supro Gold Field pickup in the bridge position, which D’Angelico describes as having a “clear like a single coil and bold like a humbucker,” making it an “excellent choice” for “nuanced funk and vintage-inspired rock tones.”
This innovative coil features two bar magnets positioned across a sturdy steel base plate, delivering a clear and rich sound. Combining the clarity of a single coil pickup with the fullness of a humbucker, the Gold Field is ideal for capturing the nuances of funk and vintage-inspired rock styles.
This is paired with two Supro T-Style single-coil pickups in the middle and neck positions. This model also comes equipped with a Wilkinson tremolo system.
Offset Thinline Construction
The guitar has a thinline, semi-hollow construction offset mahogany body in a peppermint finish. It also has a very distinctive contoured f-hole. The maple C-profile neck has an ebony fretboard with 22 medium jumbo frets, Mother of Pearl/Abalone Split Block inlays, and a Graph Tech NuBone XL nut.
Hardware also includes a Grover 109 Super Rotomatic tuner set, and the pickups are wired via a 5-way blade switch.
It certainly stands out from the crowd, and the demo video shows off this model’s funky tones nicely.
