Roland has unveiled new flagship kits based around the new V71 V-Drums Module, with new pads and Roland Cloud sound expansion! Introducing, the V-Drums 7 Series

Unquestionably the leader when it comes to electronic drums, the Roland V-Drum range consistently sets the bar for performance and quality when it comes to digital tub-thumping. Today they have placed a new jewel in their crown, namely the V-Drums 7 Series.

The V-Drum 7 Series

Entering the fray are three new kits that are all based around the new V71 V-Drums module which features an all-new, multi-sampled sound library that has been created in partnership with their new acquisition, Drum Workshop Inc., or DW to friends.

This means that, for the first time, V-Drummers can access the DW Soundworks and all of DW’s drum content for their DWe kit, as well as V-Drums instrument expansions. All of the V-Drums 7 Series kits come with six months of Roland Cloud Ultimate membership. And with the recent addition of the DW content to that tier, renewing that membership is a no-brainer.

A New Digital Snare

The new kits also comprise of newly designed pads, such as the PD-14DSX, Roland’s most advanced digital snare with improved sensing and snare throw-off hardware. This new drum is used across all three of the new kits, which come in typical V-Drum styles.

Top Of The Range

First up in the V-Drums 7 Series is the beautiful VAD716. As with all VAD kits, it features real wood shells, chrome hardware and to the untrained eye is a gorgeous-looking acoustic kit. A full depth kick is surrounded by 10″ and 12″ toms, two 14″ floor toms, digital 14″ Hi-Hat and 18″ ride and two 16″ crash cymbals.

This kit is available in a number of finishes including Satin Walnut veneer, Pearl White gloss, Gloss Cherry, Gloss Ebony, Gloss Natural and a Maple veneer.

The TD716 and TD713 are slightly pared back versions, with low-profile pads. Some of the drum sizes are slightly reduced, but are still some of the best V-Drum pads available.

The V71 V-Drum Module

The heart of all three kits is the new V71 Drum Module whose specification is simply next-level when it comes to e-Drum modules. Whilst it retains the familiar V-Drum Series workflow, underneath the hood there have been dramatic changes. Every sample has been recorded at 32bit/192kHz, much of which was created in collaboration with DW directly.

Using Roland’s proprietary behaviour modelling, this might be the most authentic-sounding drum module ever made. V-Edit allows for adjustment of every aspect of the drums and cymbals, and as you would expect, there is a vast amount of connectivity for audio and data on the rear.

And so, to the Price…

The Roland V-Drums 7 Series kits will begin shipping in October and, as one might expect, command a lofty price. The V71 module on its own will have an MSRP of $2,599.99 USD. The TD713 will have an MSRP of $6,333.99 USD, whilst the TD716 will have an MSRP of $7,999.99. The flagship VAD716 will have an MSRP of $8,999.99.
