Samsung has found itself amid controversy after the Galaxy Buds FE (review) allegedly exploded in the ear of a Turkish user. Unfortunately, the user has suffered permanent hearing loss, meaning the person question won’t be able to hear sound again following the incident. This whole situation has left a big question mark on the company’s quality control test procedure.
Samsung Galaxy Buds FE reportedly exploded in one user’s ear causing permanent hearing loss
The incident was first reported via a Samsung Community post and left everyone shocked including us. When we tried accessing the post on the Samsung Community, we saw the heading of the post under the “Top Liked Posts” section but couldn’t view the entire post at the time of writing. The post page displayed a message saying “The message you are trying to access is not available.” That means, Samsung may have taken the post down. You can check the image below.
Fortunately, the details of the post were reshared on Reddit by a user and have gone viral since. The user who first reported the incident mentioned that her girlfriend borrowed his pair of Galaxy Buds FE to use. To his surprise, when his girlfriend put them on, it suddenly exploded. What’s worse is that the girl reportedly suffered permanent hearing loss after the earbuds’ explosion.
The company’s behavior towards the whole incident was reportedly bad
As anyone would do, he called Samsung to report the incident. The user mentioned that the company wanted him to bring the exploded Galaxy Buds FE to a nearby service center. Apparently, the technical service team apologized but couldn’t understand how and why the earbuds exploded. However, he received a call from a Samsung representative two days later claiming the earbuds hadn’t exploded but were rather deformed.
The only thing the representative offered was a pair of new Galaxy Buds FE and told “Take it or leave it. If you wish, you can pursue your legal rights.” Per the post, the user has been dealing with this incident for months now. He further mentioned that he would not let this incident go into thin air and rightly so.
It is sad to hear about the initial on-ground behavior from an apex tech brand like Samsung in such an incident. After the post went viral, users expect Samsung to address this incident and conduct a thorough investigation.
