Cherry Audio Blue3 Organ tweaks the GUI and adds new effects to the acclaimed organ emulation.
Cherry Audio Blue3 Organ
When GG Audio founder Ray Giarratana decided to leave the software business, the fate of his Blue3 Organ and Spin Leslie emulation plugins was up in the air. That’s when Cherry Audio stepped in, acquiring the IP on both titles. “As we pass the torch to Cherry Audio,” said Ray on the GG Audio site, “we couldn’t be more excited about the future of Blue3. With Cherry Audio’s renowned expertise and commitment to excellence in audio software development, we are confident that Blue3 will continue to evolve and delight musicians worldwide.”
That evolution is now complete, with Cherry Audio today announcing a revitalized Blue3 Organ. The new version will keep the core sound engine as is while refreshing the GUI and adding a few new touches, including effects.
Cherry Audio Blue3 Organ: Hammond Emulation
If you’re unfamiliar with Blue3 Organ, it’s a modeled (not sampled) virtual instrument that recreates the Hammond B-3, C-3, A-100, L-100, CV and M-3 models. It features 31 tonewheel sets that accurately capture variations found across vintage instruments, 91 modeled tonewheels with phase synchronization and authentically emulated scanner vibrato/chorus.
Additional features include full polyphony for upper, lower, and pedal manuals, keyboard split and drawbar utilities, including copy, swap, reset and randomize. You can refine tones with settings for condition, key click, percussion and overdrive. On the Cabinet page there are six speaker options plus adjustable rotary speed with acceleration and deceleration. Lastly, the microphone simulation includes spread and distance controls, four microphones plus click-and-drag functionality.
Cherry Audio Blue3 Organ: Cherry On Top
As mentioned, Cherry Audio has decided to honor GG Audio’s original core sound engine. The developer has, however, made a few adjustments. This includes three stompbox-style effects in the form of tape echo delay, reverb with spring, plate and hall settings and a seven-band graphic EQ. Cherry Audio has also overhauled the GUI, including the microphone simulation page.
Cherry Audio Blue3 Organ: Price and Availability
Cherry Audio Blue3 Organ is now available* for $49. If you’ve previously purchased Blue3 from GG Audio, you can upgrade for $39.
Blue3 is available as an AU/VST/VST3/AAX plugin as well as a standalone instrument for macOS 10.13 or higher and Windows 7 or higher.
There’s no word yet on Spin, the Leslie emulation that Cherry Audio also acquired from GG Audio. We’ll let you know when we hear something.
