Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher believes De Ligt will end up replacing Maguire as a centre-back, with the Dutch defender and Martinez likely to be in the first team.

Speaking to the BBC about his team's performance, Ten Hag said: “Acho, the performance was good. Vitoria likes it a lot. It's always important to start the season with a win. We are not ready as a team, many players are not fit. We have only spent 10 days with this team training together.
I hope more from this team, but we have a foundation to build on.
“The performance was fantastic, over the 90 minutes it is clear that there is room for good things. The broader thing than the overall performance is executing the game plan to get very good results.
