Passkey is a unique security feature that eliminates the need for a password and serves as a better alternative. Given the ease of use and better security, popular social media apps like TikTok and WhatsApp have already adopted this feature. Now, there’s a new addition to that list. Today, X announced that it is rolling out passkey login support on its Android app.
You can now enable passkey logins on X’s Android app
Early this morning, the company took to its @Safety account on X to announce the rollout of the security option. It should be noted that the passkey login support has been there for iOS users in the United States since January.
In April, X further announced the rollout of the security feature for all iOS users around the globe. However, the support for its Android app was long due, but it’s finally here. Not only did X announce the passkey login support for Android users, but it also detailed how to enable it.
Here’s how to enable the security option
To enable passkey login for your X account, log in to the same using the Android app. Next, tap the “Your Account” section in the navigation bar. Then, tap “Settings and Privacy.” On the following screen, tap “Security and account access” followed by the “Security” option.
Now, you can find “Passkey” under the “Additional password protection” section, simply tap on it. Next, you’ll be prompted to enter the password of your X account, enter the same. Finally, tap “Add a passkey” and follow the on-screen prompts.
Not to forget, you can also delete passkey logins on X following the aforementioned steps except for the last one. Once you’re on the “Passkey” screen, you can find the “Delete a passkey” option, simply tap on it. Worth noting that this option is available only when a passkey is already there. All that said, you can also opt to unenroll your X account from passkey authentication at any time.
