Earlier this morning Ubisoft confirmed the official title for Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, now known as Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and revealed it would get a cinematic trailer debut on May 15, and now it looks like a release date has leaked.
In Ubisoft’s official tweet that announced the upcoming trailer reveal, it mentions only when the trailer is supposed to go live. What isn’t mentioned is the release date of the game. However, we did speculate that it might reveal the date during the trailer. It looks like Ubisoft may have unintentionally given away the launch date on YouTube.
The release date is mentioned in Ubisoft’s official YouTube channel in Italy. If you head over to the official YouTube channel, you’ll see a cinematic premiere video for Assassin’s Creed Shadows on the publisher’s home page tab. It’s this video that seems to have unintentionally revealed the details. A user on X spotted the date and quickly took a screenshot. You cannot however see this information on the US site. So one of two things is possible. Ubisoft caught wind of the accidental leak and removed mention of the date, or it was never visible on the US version of the site. Either way, the information is out there now.
The user who spotted the date is @Andreaalex2001, who posted about it in the same Wario64 comments thread mentioned in our initial report about the trailer.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows release date is likely to be November 15, 2024
Ubisoft most certainly wanted to keep this under wraps. Potentially until the trailer was revealed on Wednesday. But with it out there now, don’t be surprised if there’s an official statement regarding the date prior to the cinematic trailer debut. According to @Andreaalex2001, the game is coming on November 15 of this year. That is technically within the timeframe set by Ubisoft’s CEO who stated during an earnings report earlier this year that it would be released before March 2025.
However, given the wording, it was probably suspected to be coming later than what it now appears to be. In the screenshot below, you can see just below the video title that it says “disponibile dal 15 novembre 2024.” This translates to “available from November 15, 2024.” Information about the game’s platform availability was also revealed in the earlier report. The game will be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with availability on Ubisoft+ as well.
Ubisoft could always change the date
While it appears the game is coming on November 15, 2024, there’s always room for Ubisoft to change the date. It also can’t be ruled out that this date was a mistake, though that seems unlikely. It seems more logical that the date is real and it was listed by mistake. Either way, it seems Ubisoft fans are going to be eating good in the second half of the year. With Star Wars Outlaws coming in August, there’s plenty of time to finish that up before Assassin’s Creed Shadows becomes available.
That being said, now would be a good time to finish Assassin’s Creed Mirage. If you haven’t already done so.
