Danelectro has announced the White Pearl Doubleneck model with 6-string and 12-string necks. Would this new colour option be affordable for guitarists? It is certainly more attainable than the recent Gibson limited-run Jimmy Page Doubleneck!

White Pearl Doubleneck

Doubleneck guitars are a rarity, and not many musicians take them on, especially when they are as expensive as the recent Jimmy Page limited-run model from Gibson. Danelectro has launched this new White Pearl Doubleneck model, which is still a limited run, just far more within most guitarists’ budgets.

Six & Twelve

This double-neck comes in the popular 6/12 configuration and features two bolt-on necks to accommodate each. The necks are 25 inches in scale length and fitted with 21 frets on a rosewood fretboard. Both sides of the guitar have an adjustable bridge, so users can have fun setting the intonation on that 12-string!

Lipstick

Both sides of the guitar are loaded with Lipstick pickups, and these are each controlled by a set of two stacked volume/tone knobs. A three-way pickup and two-way guitar selector switch complement the volume/tone controls. This should, in theory, make these easy to control and not too confusing for the player when using this guitar live.

Tone-wise, players should expect a typical Danelectro vintage twang from both sides of the guitar, which could be a great way of cutting through the mix of most bands while playing live.

These aren’t the types of guitars that I would use in a studio environment, as they are a bit unwieldy. However, they can be an excellent tool for live use, where a guitarist needs to cover 6-string and 12-string duties in one song.

Affordable?

The official MSRP of $899 plus tax is still far more affordable than many other double-neck guitars, and this limited-run White Pearl finish is quite eye-catching on such a large instrument. Buying a case for one is also going to be a nightmare.

I would probably suggest the Harley Benton DC-Custom 612 Cherry as an even more affordable option with the same 6-string and 12-string configurations.
