The new Gibson Slash Jessica signature model is based on one of two Les Paul Standards that Gibson gave to the Guns’N’Roses guitarist in the late 80s. It’s a fan favourite, and finally, it’s here after much anticipation.
Slash Jessica
This latest Gibson Slash Jessica signature model is designed to look like the fan favourite, Les Paul Standard, one Slash plays live with both Guns’N’Roses and Velvet Revolver. The original guitar was a factory second and one of two Les Paul Standards that Gibson gave him in the late 1980s.
HoneyBurst
This model has a Honey Burst finish with a red back and emulates the guitar he often plays live. It has a three-piece plain maple top, a non-weight-relieved mahogany body paired with a mahogany neck, and a 50s Vintage neck profile.
Custom Burstbucker
This model has a pair of Custom Burstbucker Alnico 2 humbucking pickups and uses Orange Drop capacitors in the wiring. Expect classic rock tones from this guitar. It has standard dual volume and tone controls and a three-way switch. Giving players a lot of great Les Paul tones.
It comes with a few added extras, including a set of Schaller Strap Locks, a Slash pick set, a USA leather strap, a Gibson multi-tool, and a custom hardshell case. Plus, a spare blank truss rod cover, as it ships with one that has Slash’s signature on it, so you can swap it out if you prefer to be less of a fan.
Verdict
As everyone knew, it was in the pipeline, and this latest signature model has been coming for a long time. No matter what you think of Gibson or Slash, it will sell like hotcakes. The basic construction is pretty much what you would expect from a late 80s Les Paul Standard, and it comes in a classic finish, so it should be a decent Les Paul.
Though, it is most definitely a guitar for Slash fans.
