The Beetronics Wannabee is inspired by two classic overdrives: the Bluesbreaker and the Klon. Each side can be combined, and they can be chained both ways, making for lots of excellent drive tones.
Beetronics Wannabee
The Beetronics Wannabe, Dual Overdrive circuits are based on the famous Bluesbreaker overdrive circuit and the ultra-expensive Klon Centaur Overdrive. They can be blended and combined, and users can change the order of the two overdrives. Making this overdrive pedal a pretty versatile drive effect for guitarists.
As with all Beetronics pedals, the overall design is top-notch, and it looks just as good on the inside with the custom PCB design.
Controls
Each overdrive circuit features Volume, Taste (Tone), and Honey (Gain) controls and a dedicated footswitch to engage the drive. The pedal also has a three-way switch that allows users to boost the mids, set it flat, or enhance the low end.
Circuit #0 is Beetronics’ Bluesbreaker-inspired creation. It combines vintage amp sound with crystal-clear crispness while preserving the beloved tube-like warmth. In addition, the three flavours give you more control over the low end.
Circuit #1 is Beetronics’ interpretation of the legendary Klon Drive. All the iconic, transparent overdrive sounds can be found here, with a sweet honey twist. Unlike any other Klone, Circuit #1 offers three options for the clean-mix ratio via the small toggle switch.
Routing System
The two overdrive circuits can be routed in parallel, and users can also change the order of the effects, which allows for some great blending options when you use the volume controls of each drive.
The standard edition is available for $299, and Custom Shop versions in various colours are available for a slight upcharge.
