Both Google and Vivo have rather compelling flagship smartphones to offer at the moment. Both of them have been launched not long ago. In this article, we’ll compare them. This is a comparison between the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL vs Vivo X200 Pro. These two phones are both large devices, they’re both flagship-grade phones, but they’re also very different at the same time.

The approach to design is different here, and so is the camera performance, and so on. There’s a lot to talk about here. We’ll first list their specifications, and will then move to compare their designs, displays, performance, battery life, cameras, and audio output. With that being said, let’s get to it.

Google Pixel 9 Pro XL vs Vivo X200 Pro: Design

Both of these smartphones are made out of metal and glass. They both use aluminum for their frames, while glass is on the back. The thing is, Vivo does use two different glass backplates, so the weight does differ a bit between Vivo X200 Pro models. Let’s take things one step a time, though. Both of these smartphones feature flat frames all around. Frames on both phones are a bit rounded towards the edges, for comfort’s sake.

The Pixel 9 Pro XL has a flat display and a flat backplate. The Vivo X200 Pro has a micro quad-curved display and backplate. That only means that its glass panels are slightly rounded towards all sides, and the display itself is not curved. You’ll notice a centered display camera hole on the top of both displays. The ones on the Pixel 9 Pro XL is larger, though, and does sit a bit lower in comparison.

The bezels around both displays are thin, but the bezels on the Vivo X200 Pro are thinner. Those bezels are uniform on both phones. The physical buttons are located on the right-hand side of both phones, and they both have the standard lineup. The positioning is different, though. On the Pixel 9 Pro XL, the power/lock button sits above the volume up and down keys. It’s the other way around on the Vivo X200 Pro.

Their camera islands on the back are notably different. The one on the Pixel 9 Pro XL is horizontal and pill-shaped. It sits at the top of the phone’s backplate. The Vivo X200 Pro has a circular camera island, however, and it’s quite large. Both phones do have three cameras inside their camera islands, and both modules do protrude on the back, quite a bit. Both phones are also quite slippery, and they have an IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. The Vivo X200 Pro also offers an IP69 certification.

The two phones are very similar in terms of dimensions, and the same goes for weight. The differences are negligible. Their display sizes are also almost the same size and have the same display aspect ratio.

Google Pixel 9 Pro XL vs Vivo X200 Pro: Display

The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL features a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display. That panel is flat, and it offers an adaptive refresh rate. Its refresh rate goes from 1 to 120Hz, and HDR10+ content is supported here. The peak brightness of this panel is 3,000 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is at around 88%, while the display aspect ratio is 20:9. The resolution this display offers is 2992 x 1344, while the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects the panel.

The Vivo X200 Pro, on the other hand, has a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display. The refresh rate here goes from 1 to 120Hz too, and HDR10+ content is supported. Dolby Vision support is also included, and the peak brightness of the panel goes up to 4,500 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is at around 90%, while the display aspect ratio is 20:9. The resolution here is 2800 x 1260, while the Armor Glass protects this panel.

Both of these displays are actually outstanding. They’re vivid, have great viewing angles, and the blacks are as deep as you’d expect them to be. The touch response is also really good, as is the display protection. Yes, the Vivo X200 Pro can get a bit brighter when needed, so that’s one of the upsides. Other than that, they’re basically on the same playing field, you really cannot go wrong here. Both displays are outstanding.

Google Pixel 9 Pro XL vs Vivo X200 Pro: Performance

The Google Tensor G4 SoC fuels the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL. That is a 4nm processor from the company, and it’s combined with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM; and UFS 3.1 flash storage. The Vivo X200 Pro, on the flip side, is fueled by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processor. That is MediaTek’s new 3nm chip, and it’s combined with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and UFS 4.0 flash storage. The storage is not expandable on either phone.

The Vivo X200 Pro is technically a more powerful phone. Not only does it have a more powerful chip, but it has faster storage too. It does feel a bit snappier during use, but both smartphones are very fast, and very fluid too. The animations are great on both, and despite the fact teh Pixel 9 Pro XL technically has inferior performance-related hardware, it performs great. That chip is well-optimized for the device.

They’re very fluid in day-to-day tasks, even when it comes to more intense multitasking. Gaming is also not a problem for either smartphone, though if you’re aiming to play the most demanding games on the Play Store, the Vivo X200 Pro is probably the better pick. It can handle such titles at higher graphical settings, even though you’ll be able to play any game with either phone. They both control the heat really well too, actually.

Google Pixel 9 Pro XL vs Vivo X200 Pro: Battery

A 5,060mAh battery sits inside the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL. The Vivo X200 Pro, on the other hand, has a 6,000mAh silicon-carbon battery on the inside. Considering the use of newer battery tech, Vivo was able to pack in a larger battery on the inside. With that being said, both of these smartphones do offer great battery life, actually. Yes, the Vivo X200 Pro does offer better battery life, but the Pixel 9 Pro XL is also really good in that regard.

Both smartphones are capable of going over the 7-hour screen-on-time mark with specific usage, and you can get considerably more from the Vivo X200 Pro. That will all depend on your usage and signal, of course. There are simply too many variables to give accurate predictions of battery life for each person. You’ll all have different experiences, but just note that both smartphones are really good in regard to battery life.

The Vivo X200 Pro does have the upper hand when it comes to charging, though. The phone supports 90W wired and 30W wireless charging, in addition to reverse wired charging. The Pixel 9 Pro XL supports 37W wired, 23W wireless (with the Pixel Stand), 12W Qi wireless, and reverse wireless charging. The Vivo X200 Pro will not only be able to charge notably faster, but it also comes with a charger in the box.

There are three cameras on the back of each of these smartphones. The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL features a 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.31-inch sensor), a 48-megapixel ultrawide unit (1/2.55-inch sensor, 123-degree FoV), and a 48-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (1/2.55-inch sensor, 5x optical zoom). The Vivo X200 Pro, on the flip side, offers a 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.28-inch sensor), a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit (1/2.76-inch sensor, 119-degree FoV), and a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto unit (1/1.4-inch sensor, 3.7x optical zoom). Vivo’s cameras are also backed by ZEISS.

Both of these phones are very capable camera smartphones, but the difference in pictures themselves is considerable. The Pixel 9 Pro XL images do look more processed, and that phone does offer more contrasty shots. The images from the Vivo X200 Pro are more vivid and generally brighter, but in a good way. They both do a great job in low light, though the difference in exposure is notably different.

Both ultrawide cameras do a good job, and despite the fact they differ in terms of style, they’re somewhat on par. There is a huge difference when it comes to the periscope telephoto units, however. The Vivo X200 Pro is in a league of its own in that regard, as the images do end up looking better in almost every scenario. The Vivo X200 Pro also takes the cake when it comes to macro photography. Both selfie cameras are very good, but we did prefer the one from the Pixel 9 Pro XL most of the time.

Audio

Both of these phones include a set of stereo speakers. Both of them are actually really good, and rather similar in terms of loudness. The Vivo X200 Pro does technically have louder speakers, but the difference is not that noticeable. The sound quality is good on both sides.

What neither phone has is an audio jack. You will be forced to use their Type-C ports if you’re using wired headphones. If you prefer wireless headphones, the Pixel 9 Pro XL supports Bluetooth 5.3, while the Vivo X200 Pro comes with Bluetooth 5.4.
