As many of you know, the global variant of the Huawei Mate X6 launched yesterday. Along with it, Huawei announced EMUI 15 for global users, as this is the first smartphone that comes with that version of the company’s OS.
Huawei has basically introduced EMUI 15 when it launched the global Mate X6 variant
Unlike the global model of the Huawei Mate X6, the Chinese ones comes with HarmonyOS NEXT operating system. That is Huawei’s brand-new Android-free OS. Unlike it, the EMUI 15 is based on Android still.
The company did not flat-out share the entire changelog for this update, nor anything of the sort. Thanks to Huawei Central, however, we do have some information about it.
EMUI 15 does bring new lock screen themes to the table. The first one is called ‘Emoji Crush’. That is an interactive theme, by the way. By shaking the device, you can change emoticons on the screen.
Multitasking has been improved with this update
This update also makes multitasking easier, as you can run three apps on the screen at the same time. Another new addition is the Air Hoops gesture. Tapping twice on the lock screen basically allows you to play basketball with your phone.
EMUI 15 can also hide your notifications when it detects someone else looking at your screen. You can also get alerts on your smartwatch when this happens, by the way.
There are a lot more changes included, but as mentioned previously, we still don’t have all the information. Huawei also did not share the roadmap for other devices. So we don’t really know when will other phones and tablets gets EMUI 15.
We do expect that more information will arrive in the near future, so stay tuned for that. Some HarmonyOS NEXT features do seem to be included in EMUI 15, which is unsurprising.
