Posted on

Apple Music has made its yearly recap more accessible and engaging for its subscribers. For the first time, users can access the Replay feature directly through the Music app on their iPhone, iPad, and Mac, eliminating the need for a browser. The update became available alongside the release of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1.

This update aligns with the year-end trend of personalized music summaries providing Apple Music users with a breakdown of their top songs, artists, and genres. The tech giant now ensures that subscribers are having a seamless experience within their respective apps.

Apple Music yearly recap: Your listening habits in detail

The Apple Music yearly recap offers a data-driven look at your music preferences. Replay calculates your most-played songs, albums, and artists, presenting them in visually appealing statistics. It also tracks total listening time, favorite genres, and playlists. It shows if you rank among the top 500 or 1,000 listeners for a genre or artist. It also highlights your longest streak of consecutive days using Apple Music. Additionally, it breaks down your top artists, albums, and songs for each month of 2024.

To find your recap, open the Music app and navigate to the Home, New, or Search tabs. Scroll down to “Replay: Your Top Songs by Year” to explore personalized playlists updated weekly. These playlists are sharable and can be saved to your library for future listening.

Subscribers can also revisit their past years’ listening histories, making the feature a nostalgic dive into musical journeys over time.

Setting up Replay for better accuracy

To unlock your Apple Music yearly recap, ensure that the listening history setting is enabled. For iPhone and iPad users, go to Settings > Apps > Music and toggle on “Use Listening History.” On a Mac, open the Music app, go to the Music menu, select Settings > General, and tick the box for “Use Listening History.”

Additionally, Apple offers a “focus mode trick” to help refine Replay results. Users can curate their playback data and prevent certain tracks from influencing recommendations by creating a dedicated focus mode linked to the listening history action.
