Samsung could announce the S25 in the first week of 2025

Do you remember the good old days when Samsung would announce its phones in the springtime? Well, those days are long gone, as the company has been moving the launch dates of its Galaxy S phone earlier and earlier in the year. Well, Samsung could launch its next phone before you take down your Christmas decorations. A new report hints that Samsung will announce the Galaxy S25 in the first week of January.

It seems that Samsung wants to release its major smartphones at the beginning and middle of the year. The newest Galaxy S phones launch in the early months while the Z Fold/Z Flip phones come around July. Things used to be different when Samsung would launch its S phone in the spring and its other major phones (back then, they were the Note phones) in the Fall. Well, times have truly changed.

Samsung could announce the Galaxy S25 in the first week of January

As always, you’ll want to take this news with a grain of salt. We’re dealing with leaked information. Samsung recently held a survey asking people what sort of promotional offers customers would want to have when purchasing the phone. The survey was in Vietnamese, so we’re not sure how widespread the sample audience was.

However, the survey said that people who complete it will receive a 10% discount on January 5th. That doesn’t point to a solid launch date, but it hints at the company officially launching it on the 5th. Since Samsung officially launches its devices a few weeks after the announcement, it seems more likely that the next Unpacked event will happen on the 5th. So, rather than the 5th being the launch date of the Galaxy S25, it could be the pre-order date. That 10% could go toward the pre-order price.

In any case, the fact that Samsung mentioned the 5th means that something will happen on that date. That’s super early in the year; people will still be cleaning Christmas tree needles off of their living room floors.
