T-Mobile has been in the news for a while now for some wrong reasons. Last month, there were reports about T-Mobile underpaying employees. Now, T-Mobile has again found itself in trouble as employees plan to walk-out to protest its recently announced decision. Notably, the decision affects certain customers including veterans, first responders, and citizens above 55 years.
T-Mobile employees plan walk-out to protest the decision to reduce trade-in discounts for certain customers
The announcement of the walk-out protest from employees came after T-Mobile decided to reduce trade-in discounts on standard plans for the above customers. Earlier, T-Mobile announced affordable plans as a token of appreciation for certain members who serve the country and society.
The decision to reduce the trade-in discounts will result in offsetting the lower price for such customers. That’s not all, as the affected customers aren’t eligible for T-Mobile’s recent promotional plans either.
Therefore, T-Mobile employees, who come from a military background, have decided to protest this change. Per a Reddit post, a group of employees have demanded T-Mobile to reverse this decision and “restore full promotional eligibility for veterans and first responders.”
The protest is reportedly planned for November 29
If the smartphone carrier doesn’t agree to reverse the recent change, the employees will walk out to protest on Black Friday, November 29th. For those unaware, Black Friday is considered one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
So, if employees walk out to protest on that very day, it’ll immensely hamper T-Mobile’s operations. Protesting employees argue that the promotional offers were more than just a discount. Rather, it was a recognition of their service to the country and society.
They also claim that veterans and first responders have been paying more than other customers on regular plans since the change. Employees further believe the decision to reverse the discount is nothing but demoralizing and insulting to those customers. Besides, it further sends out the wrong message about T-Mobile’s values and ethics.
Time will tell if T-Mobile reverses its decision or sees its employees walking out to protest on its busiest days of the year. Moreover, it is important to note that this protest could also affect T-Mobile’s plan to launch 5G advanced service by the end of 2024.
