Qualcomm has released a new promo video for its upcoming flagship processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Yes, this will be the new name, as teased, a well-known tipster reconfirmed it.

In other words, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 won’t be the name of the new chip, but the Snapdragon 8 Elite. It seems like Qualcomm is already ditching its naming scheme for processors.

You can check out the video that Qualcomm shared by clicking here, as it was shared by Weibo. It mentions the Snapdragon Summit 2024 days, along with showing us a prototype smartphone with the Snapdragon 8 Elite on the inside.

The Snapdragon Summit 2024 will take place on October 22, October 23, and October 24. The Snapdragon 8 Elite will become official on the first day, though, October 22.

If you check out the provided video, you’ll see a prototype device that looks a lot like something OnePlus would launch. That managed to create some rumors that this is the OnePlus 13, and that OnePlus’ new flagship will be the first device with this chip.

This is probably not the OnePlus 13, but you can check out the prototype device in the image below. In this teaser video, Qualcomm also reconfirms that the custom Oryon CPU cores will be in use, for the first time ever.

A bunch of smartphone manufacturers will announce their flagships this month

As you probably already know, quite a few smartphone OEMs are planning to announce their flagship smartphones which use this SoC… this month. The OnePlus 13 is coming, along with the OPPO Find X8 series, and the Vivo X200 family. The HONOR Magic6 series is also expected to arrive, along with the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro.

Qualcomm will see quite a bit of competition from MediaTek, though. The Dimensity 9400 is also coming this month, and it will be MediaTek’s new flagship processor. Based on what we’ve seen through rumors and leaks, it will be quite powerful.
