Hawaiian music appreciation from the 1920s and 1930s inspired the release of the new Martin O’ahu HG-28 steel-strung acoustic.

When Martin introduces new guitars from the custom shop, there is usually a story behind every instrument. The Martin O’ahu HG-28 is inspired by the Hawaiian music enthusiasm of the 1920s and 30s.

This model brings the unique sound and style of that time to the present. Chris Martin IV noted how vital this era was for developing modern steel-stringed acoustic guitars, and the Martin O’ahu HG-28 is an excellent tribute to this era.

Smaller

The Martin O’ahu HG-28 offers a comfortable body shape, perfect for those who prefer the Dreadnought sound but want a smaller guitar. Its flamed Hawaiian koa back, sides, and solid spruce top help to create a rich and balanced tone.

Short Scale

The satin-finished short-scale neck is easy to play and features bold herringbone trim and antique white binding, reminiscent of Martin’s classic Hawaiian-style guitars.

It’s a great-looking acoustic and one that should be a lot of fun to play. It isn’t cheap but would be an excellent investment for any acoustic player looking for something different. This model also looks like it would be a very comfortable guitar to play, and it should still offer great projection and tone.

MSRP – USD 3599
