Local media reported that Miyazaki Airport, southwestern Japan, resumed operations on the morning of the fifth day of the exhibition, one day after its scheduled date due to a failed bomb explosion during the war that destroyed a section of its taxi runway.

The Transportation Ministry office at Miyazaki Airport said on the fourth day that an explosion was heard on the taxi runway just before 8 a.m. local time, when air traffic controllers billowed smoke from the terminal.
The airport office said that the explosion created an oval crater approximately 7 meters wide, 4 meters long and 1 meter deep on the asphalt pavement adjacent to the taxi route.
No flights were canceled and a total of 87 flights were canceled into the airport at 2pm local time, as the runway was dated that day.
The Japanese Self-Defense Forces and local investigative authorities determined that the explosion was caused by a 500-pound aircraft launched during World War II.
