The Music and Sound Design Jury is a lively crew—each of us seasoned professionals with a shared passion for the craft. While a simple “yes” or “no” is all that’s required of us in this initial round, it’s never that straightforward. With 164 entries spanning 10 categories, the discussions have already started. What exactly defines Sound Editing versus Sound Design? Which pieces belong in Music Adaptation rather than Licensing?

After 8 hours of deliberation with spirited (and possibly unnecessary) debate… we finally got through the lot. I’m excited to see the shortlist and dive into the real debate…
