M-Audio Forty Series
The design is simple but efficient, with access to all your key features on the front of the speakers without having to reach behind. While both models are bi-amplified rear-ported designs with kevlar woofers and 1-inch soft dome tweeters, there are some differences in power output.
The Forty Sixty uses a 60W+40W configuration with a maximum SPL of 113dB and a frequency response of 39Hz – 22kHz (-10dB). Meanwhile, the larger Forty Eighty has an 80W+70W configuration, a max output of 116dB SPL, and a lower 32Hz – 22kHz (-10dB) response.
The rear panel is simple, with TRS and XLR inputs and a basic gain control. However, the Forty Series is also equipped with Bluetooth 5.0 which is perfect for modern content creation workflows.
In addition, there are different voicing modes that you can access on the front panel. These include FLAT mode, which is the most neutral setting for mixing, and HYPE mode which is like the “car” setting.
Furthermore, with the Forty Series Control mobile app, you can craft your own settings and access them with the CUSTOM mode.
Overall, the Forty Series is powerful and affordable, with some great features to help you get the most out of using monitors in any environment.
