LIA judging rolls on today as industry heavyweights begin evaluating entries in TV & Cinema; Online Film; Evolution; Creative Use of Data; Creative Strategy and Transformative Business Impact Categories. Meanwhile, Creative LIAisons kicks off, with 125 rising stars gathering to soak up wisdom from global thought leaders in a series of engaging sessions.

 

“We started this LIA funded, specially curated initiative in 2012 to give back to the industry. Its testimony to see past attendees climb the ranks of the industry, highlighted by the fact that five of the jury members at LIA this year are past attendees of the LIAisons program” says Laurissa Levy, Creative LIAisons Director.

Jury President Suzanne Powers led her fellow jurors in a discussion on how strategy plays a role not just in creating great work, but also in designing the right conditions for creativity to thrive in teams. One of the many insightful tips shared came from Suzanne, who shared, “In our world of fast, fast, fast, it’s important to take at least 5-10 minutes at the start of each project to set shared ambitions as a team.”

Select members of the Evolution & Creative Use of Data Panel, including Jury President Yasu Sasaki, Global CCO of dentsu, took a break from judging to share insights with the industry’s rising stars. On defying the temptation to let the tech rule the idea, Kaleeta McDade shared, “Start with the problem and idea first, then figure out how to amplify it with the right platforms. Else, you’ll end up with something that may seem cool, but could be fickle.”

Advertising: a career filled with little reward, only late nights? Till Diestel, Chief Creative Office at Serviceplan, and Juliana Constantino, ECD at Pereira O’Dell took the stage to reframe young creatives’ perspectives, by reminding them why creatives have the best job in the world. Citing on of the many reasons, they shared, “Very few jobs give you the creative freedom to blend art, psychology and storytelling to solve problems and shape culture.”

In her captivating talk, “Disturb the Status Quo, Move the World Forward,” Amy Dick, COO of CULT London, called on Creative LIAisons attendees to be agents of change within their organizations by creating constructive dissent and pushing for inclusivity. Amy took time to engage the rising stars with some thought-provoking questions, including: “What type of change would you drive if you were an activist in your company? What boundaries could you push to make these outrageous ideas happen?”

Young Creatives Talent Prep For Create & Make With BMF, Superplastic And TikTok

Attendees geared up for the upcoming Create & Make workshop – a full-day hands-on creative challenge in partnership with BMF, Superplastic and TikTok – through an engaging brief & educate session. Tara McKenty, Chief Innovation Officer and ECD of BMF Sydney introduced this experimental sprint format. Jennifer van Dijk, Superplastic’s CEO, revealed their intriguing superverse.
