Google has quietly rolled out a new update for the Play Store app. The new update allows the Google Play Store to auto-open newly installed or downloaded applications. Notably, Google has been testing this functionality since June this year. The feature was first enabled by @AssembleDebug earlier in June by tweaking the APK of the Play Store application.

Google Play Store now auto-opens new apps after 5 seconds of being installed

According to the screenshots shared by Mishaal Rahman, the updated Google Play Store app now has a toggle for the “Automatically open after install” option. This feature shows up after you hit the install button on the page of any app in the Play Store. Once enabled, this functionality of the Google Play Store will auto-open a newly installed app after five seconds of being installed.

Notably, if you enable the toggle for the auto-open option, you will see a notification with a countdown. So you’ll know when the app will open. According to the sources, the new functionality is available in the Google Play Store app’s version 42.5.15. Furthermore, Google is currently rolling out the new update globally in a gradual manner. So it could take some time to reach your Android device.

The new Play Store feature will be handy for those who forget to open an app after hitting the install button. The latest functionality aims to enhance the app installation experience on Android devices. Surprisingly, Google didn’t roll out this feature in the earlier version of Android.

The Play Store will soon start showing app ratings inside the icon for different form factors

Notably, Google is also working on a new feature that will change how Play Store shows ratings by different form factors. Currently, the Play Store shows ratings for apps with dedicated icons for different devices. You can simply click on any of these buttons to view the exact ratings for various form factors. Soon, a new Play Store update will offer a more convenient way of viewing ratings for various devices.

The upcoming update will show ratings right inside the dedicated icons for different products. So, you will no longer have to click on the icon to view the app’s ratings for a particular device. The company is currently testing this functionality with a limited number of users. It will soon release a new update for the Play Store that will offer this feature.
