Anthony Joshua has been suspended from boxing for 28 days following a knockout defeat Daniel Dubois.
The two-time heavyweight champion was sent to the tatami mat four times while Dubois developed an impressive performance to defend his IBF heavyweight title at Wembley Stadium last Saturday.
Joshua was knocked out in the fifth round after a heavy blow from his opponent, which left him collapsing to the canvas.
As a result of this defeat, Joshua was banned for 28 days by the British Boxing Board of Control.
Before anyone panics, Joshua's “panimento” is standard procedure for British wrestlers suffering defeats due to non-ring paralysis.
There is a short medical suspension to ensure the safety of the boxers and prevent them from returning to the ring immediately after a heavy defeat. This procedure is common worldwide with other boxing governing bodies in the UFC.
In most situations, especially what boxers' respect for Joshua's stance says, there is no comment of any impact on his planes. The suspension expires on October 19 and Joshua has no plans to return next year in that period.
That week, Joshua reiterated his desire to come back stronger and better than ever After submitting any housing proposal.
A rematch against Dubois in 2025 is a possible next step With the champion's promoter, Frank Warren, suggesting a Feferero bout be held this week as a possible date.
“That fight over there.” If we want them we get them, we'll get our attention. “The next fight is going to be intense,” Warren said.
“When will he fight next, we will decide what it will be like in the next week or two.”
Joshua can also look forward to a rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury on December 21. Or fellow heavyweight Fraser Clarke, whom Joshua trained for years, He thinks it would be wise for his old friend not to rush into an immediate decision.
“The manner in which the loss occurred was a devastating act,” Clark wrote in his column for Metro.co.uk.
“The team needs to think carefully. Eddie Hearn suggested waiting until Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk meet in the rematch on December 21. I realize this is a wise thing to do.
“This stage is all about being patient. Good moments pass and ruins do too. I'm sure there is a strategy for what is best to follow. Seja fights with his belt again in the rematch or waits for a bigger boxing fight against Fury.
