The Keeley OCTA PSI Transfigurating Fuzz takes octave fuzz effects to a new level and introduces a pitch-shifter, octave generator, and analogue fuzz into one pedal.

OCTA PSI Transfigurating Fuzz

The new Keeley OCTA PSI Transfigurating Fuzz offers a wealth of effects in one pedal. This latest creation has been in development for three years and has many great ways to access and control the combined effects.

Red & White

The three core effects include a pitch-shifter, an octave generator, and an analogue fuzz.

The pitch-shifting side has red text, and the fuzz side uses white text, making it easy to see what you are tweaking.

Switching

The switching is capable of unique combinations and offers all manner of functional control over the effects contained within. If the user holds down the Fuzz switch, they can access latching or momentary octaves. Holding down both foot switches can also switch the Octave/Pitch before or after the fuzz, allowing for some great combinations of the effects.

Plus, users can access All Wet or Wet/Dry-blend with a quick double-tap of the Blend control.

Modes & more

There are three modes: Up, Down, and Dual, which Keeley’s site states offer access to harmonic intervals, including power chords, stacked fourths, and diminished chords. There is also a Momentary Mode for creating what they call dive bombs and wild multi-octave bends.

Finally, it has an Adjustable Ramp Speed, which is described as having a built-in expression pedal for pitch-bending.

The Fuzz

The fuzz circuit is all-analogue and transistor-based, with controls for Fuzz, Level and Tone, plus three Scoop, Punch, or Psi mode settings. Each offers a variation on the core fuzz tone, and it has plenty of punch. The demos all sound great, so I can see this being a lot of fun to use.

Versatile

The pedal can be used in True Bypass or Silent Buffered Bypass settings, making it compatible with just about any pedalboard setup. I like that this design offers Remote Switching, Expression Control, and Effect Order Switching, making the effect super versatile.

What is not to like a Fuzz and Whammy pedal combination with loads of control? It looks like a lot of fun.
