The Zoom H2essential is a new addition to the range with three built-in microphones, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.
When it comes to compact digital recorders, Zoom is a constant innovator, always looking to offer new solutions for professionals in the areas of film, music, and content creation.
Zoom H2essential
The H2essential offers 32-bit float recording at up to 96 kHz and has a unique microphone system with three mics. With a pair of front and rear-facing cardioid mics and a bi-directional mic to capture on either side, you can configure it in a range of different ways.
An exciting feature is the ability to change the shape of the pickup pattern with 120-degree, 90-degree, and mono hyper-directional pickup modes. Both the front and rear mics have this feature, so you can activate both sides for surround recording.
Furthermore, you have the option of MS Raw recording, allowing you to make adjustments to the stereo width in post-production. The H2essential is compatible as a USB audio interface with Mac, PC, iOS, and Android devices. However, you can do this while recording to an SD card simultaneously.
With its recording workflow, the H2essential has features like prerecording, low-cut filter, and auto-recording. What’s more, you can set marker points throughout the recordings and adjust the playback speed.
An exciting function is made possible with the optional BTA-1 Bluetooth Adapter, where one or more H2essentials can be paired and controlled via iOS, allowing you to sync timecode and activate recording.
Meanwhile, the H2essential is compatible with microSDHC and microSDXC cards of up to 1TB capacity and powers from AA batteries and USB-C (which means you can also use external powerbanks).

The Zoom H2essential will be available soon from your favourite retailer, priced at $169.99 MSRP, and is expected to ship from the end of October.
