The EFNOTE Pro 703X extends the Pro 703 with more cymbals and a classy new black oak finish, with additional upgrades to the stands.
First showcased at NAMM 2024 earlier this year, the new EFNOTE Pro 703X is a very tasty upgrade to the standard Pro 703 and for just €39 more, you get some very useful additional features. Let’s take a look at what’s new.
The EFNOTE Pro 703X – What’s New?
The new EFNOTE Pro 703X maintains the 1-up, 2-down tom layout as its regular version with the following drum pad configuration:
- 1x Mesh Head Kick Drum 20″ x 15″
- 1x Triple Zone Mesh Head Snare 14″ x 5.5″
- 1x Dual Zone Mesh Head Rack Tom 10″ x 07″
- 1x Dual Zone Mesh Head Floor Tom 13″ x 13″
- 1x Dual Zone Mesh Head Floor Tom 15″ x 5″
The main differences lie within the cymbal pads:
- 1x Triple Zone Hi-Hat Pad 14″
- 1x Dual Zone Splash Pad 08″ (new for the Pro 703X)
- 1x Triple Zone Crash Pad 16″
- 1x Dual Zone Effect Pad 17″ (new for the Pro 703X)
- 1x Triple Zone Crash Pad 18″
- 1x Triple Zone Dark Crash Pad 18″
- 1x Triple Zone Ride Pad 20″
There’s also some changes within the hardware too:
- 1x Snare stand (new version for the Pro 703X)
- 5x boom cymbal stands (new version for the Pro 703X)
- 1x Tom Halter, 1x Splash Holder
The new, double extendable boom cymbal stands and the new, heavier snare stand are designed to give you the best possible stability and positioning flexibility when it comes to setting your kit up.
What Stays The Same?
What remains the same in this kit is still hugely impressive. First up, you have the exemplary sound module with its 4 colour touchscreen display. It comes with 23 preset drum kits with space for a further 20 kits of your own creation.
Kits can comprise of 167 built-in instruments, each of them meticulously multi-sampled and can be fed through the 12 channel bus mixer. Each of those channels features EQ and compression and there’s also a master EQ and compressor. There are also extensive settings for tuning, muffling and other detailed parameters.
One of the more unique things about these Pro kits is the Stage Box. This comprehensive I/O unit removes the bulk of connectivity from the drum module and puts it in a safer, sturdier unit that can be left on the floor. It has an impressive level of connectivity features:
- 15x Trigger Ins
- 12x Bus Out XLRs, balanced
- 2x Line Out TRS 6.3mm
- 2x headphone outs
- 2x Stereo-Monitors In XLR-Combos
- 2x Line In 6.3 mm jacks
- USB Audio Interface 2 In / 12 Out
- Bluetooth Audio, MIDI In / Out
- USB MIDI In / Out, DIN MIDI Out
I find this a really compelling design and can remove that mass of cabling that drapes from the kit-mounted drum module in other makes and models.
