Huawei recently announced the world’s first tri-fold smartphone, the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design. Someone took a picture of the Huawei Mate XT’s thickness next to Galaxy Z Fold 6, and basically showcased Huawei’s engineering brilliance.
The Huawei Mate XT and Galaxy Z Fold 6 image shows Huawei’s engineering prowess
That picture appeared on Reddit. We knew that the Huawei Mate XT is barely any thicker than the Fold 6, but until you see it, it’s hard to create a mental image. The image below sure helps put things into perspective.
The Huawei Mate XT is 12.8mm thick when folded, while the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is 12.1mm. So the difference is less than 1mm, despite the fact the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is only a regular foldable. Huawei really managed to create something interesting here.
In the provided image, you can clearly see two hinges on Huawei’s phone, and how thin each section of the phone is. The Mate XT is 4.57mm thick when unfolded, while the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is 5.6mm thick in that state.
This handset launched in China recently and it could be making its way to global markets
Huawei’s new tri-fold phone launched in China recently. We’re still not sure if it’s coming to global markets, but based on Huawei’s teasers on global social media accounts, it’s easily possible.
The phone includes a 10.2-inch display when fully extended. That display offers a 3K resolution, and an aspect ratio of 16:11. When folded once, it offers a 7.9-inch display, and when completely folded, you get a 6.4-inch panel.
The Kirin 9010 fuels this smartphone, while a 5,600mAh battery is included in the package. Huawei is also offering 16GB of RAM inside of this phone. On top of that, a rather compelling camera setup is included on the back. The main camera even has a variable aperture to offer.
