You can now prep songs for sets, organize your library and more, right on your iOS or Android phone with the new mobile Lexicon DJ app.
Lexicon DJ App
Let’s talk DJ library management apps. I know they’re not sexy like actual DJ software like Serato or rekordbox but they are still incredibly important. A DJ is only as good as his record collection – and if you can’t find your songs or, worse yet, they’re sloppily prepared, your sets are going to be terrible.
Lexicon (no relation to the reverb developer) is one such dedicated DJ file management tool. Now up to version 1.7, which includes improved BPM and beatgrid analysis, it lets you manage and organize your songs. You can set BPM, beatgrids, hot cues and loops plus convert files to or from rekordbox, Serato, Traktor, VirtualDJ and Engine DJ.
Lexicon DJ App Now on iOS and Android
So far, the software has only been available on Mac and Windows computers. Now the company has released Lexicon v1.0, a mobile app for iOS and Android phones. The smartphone app features the music player, playlists, cues and loops, beatgrids and quantize, track editing and custom tags and much more. It essentially lets you handle library management on the go, which could be really useful for traveling DJs.
Lexicon DJ App: Why Do You Need It?
Why would you need a dedicated library management app if you already use Serato, rekordbox or Traktor? In the words of the developers, “Where all the big DJ apps have library management as an afterthought, in Lexicon it is the primary focus. Lexicon lets you focus on keeping a clean, well-organized library with its many tools at your disposal.”
Lexicon DJ App: Price and Availability
Granted, it is an additional expense. Lexicon DJ app uses a subscription model with two tiers: $17 a month for the Basic plan and $39 a month for the Pro, which includes unlimited cloud storage and database backup.
Lexicon 1.7 is available now on the developer’s website. The mobile apps are available through the iOS and Android stores.
