The Detroit Lions opened the 2024 NFL season with a 26-20 overtime home win over the Los Angeles Rams, a rematch of last year's divisional round game.

Detroit now turns its focus to Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, another playoff upset last year, and the Lions made some pre-game trades.

The Lions will announce that they will hire defensive tackle Kyle Pico to the active roster, at the same time as hiring kicker Greg Joseph and defensive tackle Chris Smith for practice time.

Pico is a 31-year-old journeyman who plays tackles against the Rams. He played in 13 games for the Tennessee Titans, a career-high, last season, when he had 22 tackles as a rotational defensive tackle.

Joseph has played in all 17 games for the Minnesota Vikings in each of the past three seasons. For the Lions in the opener, rookie kicker Jake Betts went 2-for-2 on field goals and had two more points in his NFL career as an unsigned free agent from Arkansas.

Joseph has made 82.6 percent of his career field goal attempts, but he also made 40 for the Vikings last season, making just seven of 13 40 or more attempts.

Smith, an unsigned free agent out of Notre Dame last season, made the tackle against the Rams. He was cut earlier this week.
