After a training camp filled with drama and a season of performances, the San Francisco 49ers returned to business as usual in Game 2, when they won the regular season opener over the New York Jets, 32-19.
Leading rusher Christian McCaffrey didn't play due to an ongoing groin strain, but RB2 Jordan Mason took over with 147 consecutive yards, and the Jets simply couldn't keep up.
Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk was frustrated with just two receptions for 28 yards, and appeared ill after not practicing most of the summer while seeking a lucrative contract extension he received less than two weeks ago.
According to Jay Glazer, Aiyuk shows up at the 49ers' facilities when they are ready to complete negotiations that were sent to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he did so with coach Kyle Shanahan off to discuss negotiations for an extension.

Glazer said the Niners had an extension offer they had made again, and told Aiyuk he had until the end of practice to finalize that offer or agree to a trade to Pittsburgh.
He ended up signing a four-year, $120 million extension that will keep him under contract through the 2028 season.
Aiyuk is the Niners' greatest passing weapon and led the all-time in receptions and passing yards, while tying for the most passing yards last season.
Isso shows great talent in San Francisco's offensive scheme as they are able to easily defeat the talented Jets without McCaffrey and with Aiyuk playing below his potential.
