iPhone 16 Pro benchmark result shows disappointing numbers
All the iPhone 16 series devices are powered by new 3nm A18 series chips. Reportedly, the A18 and A18 Pro are also very similar to each other. Both the chips boast a 6-core CPU and 16-core neural engine.
the only difference is that the A18 Pro chip equips a 6-core GPU whereas the standard A18 chip packs one less GPU core.
X user James Atkinson shared the Geekbench benchmark listing of an iPhone model with identifier 17,3. According to previous leaks, this phone belongs to the iPhone 16 lineup. This is alleged to be the iPhone 16 Pro. Notably, Apple has returned to its strategy of equipping all new models with new chips this year. It’s also possible that the identifier corresponds to the hierarchy of the models. So the iPhone with identifier 17,3 could indeed refer to the iPhone 16 Pro.
The scores are comparable to the A16 Bionic
The phone scores 3,114 and 6,666 in Geekbench single and multi-core tests respectively. For context, last year’s iPhone 15 (which boasts the A16 Bionic chip) scored 2,595 and 6,651 points on the same test. As you can see, the multi-core score is barely higher than the A16 Bionic. Nonetheless, we should also keep in mind that the phone hasn’t been released yet and early benchmarks often appear to be disappointing. In comparison with the latest Google Pixel 9 Pro XL, the phone manages to maintain a significant lead in both single and multi-core performance, at least when it comes to raw CPU power.
To conclude, the alleged iPhone 16 Pro offers an improvement of approximately 7 percent in the single-core performance and a decline in the multi-core performance, as of now. We hope it gets better shortly to meet the expectations.
