Tonight's Monday Night Football showdown in Week 1 will feature two star-studded quarterbacks: the San Francisco 49ers, the current NFC champion, and the New York Jets, who are hoping to last a very long time in the playoffs.
The 49ers are without a doubt the most talented in the NFL and there are some rookies who could soon become the richest.
One of them is wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, who faced a life-or-death situation when he was shot during an attempted attack on the armed forces over Labor Day weekend in São Francisco.
He may have escaped with a relatively minor gunshot wound, but was seen entering Levi's Stadium for the second-round game, according to Tom Pelissero.

Pearsall will not play any time, as he has been placed on the non-football injury (NFI) list and will have to leave for at least four games under league rules, but his strike was a miracle.
He only spent one day in the hospital and didn't need surgery, and I was already thinking about trying to play in a week after lifting weights or shooting.
Pearsall went with the 31st pick in April's draft, and as a representative of two increasingly expensive Niners, it would be beneficial for him to eventually become a star.
Right guard Dominic Bonney, running back Isaac Gerindo and cornerback Renardo Green are three times more excited for San Francisco to hope for this season as they continue their quest for a sixth Super Bowl championship.
