Samuel Goldwyn Films assume direitos domésticos sobre o épico ‘William Tell’ antes da estreia do TIFF

Ahead of its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, Samuel Goldwyn Films has announced that it has acquired the North American catalogue for Nick Hamm’s epic resistance film, “William Tell.”

Medieval drama starring Claes Bang (“The Square,” “Dracula”). The film is written and directed by Hamm.

Inspired by the legendary story, Bang takes on the role of Guilherme Tell, a celebrated hunter whose peaceful life is shattered when the cruel Austrian Empire invades his native Switzerland. Unwilling to dissuade the joys of his country's two oppressors, Tell is set on a dangerous journey, drawing his family into the center of a revolution that will shape the fate of his nation.

“Nick has done an incredible job on this historical epic, and we are so excited to bring this legendary story to the big screen,” Peter Goldwyn, chairman of Samuel Goldwyn Films, said in a statement during the third screening.

“Samuel Goldwyn Films is passionate about the medieval resistance epic, and given their historical strength in bringing European films to North American audiences, we are excited to be working with them,” added producers Pierce Tempest and Marie-Christine Jaeger-Firmenich.

The film also stars Connor Swindells (“Barbie,” “Sex Education,” “Emma”), Golshifteh Farahani (“Paterson,” “Extraction”), Jonah Hauer-King (“A Pequena Sereia,” “O Tattooador de Auschwitz”), Ellie Bamber (“Moss & Freud,” “Animais Noturnos”), Rafe Spall (“Trying,” “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” “The Big Short”), and Emily Beecham (“The Interpreter,” “Little Joe”), with Oscar winner Ben Kingsley also being credited for Jonathan Pryce’s Oscar.

The deal was brokered by Miles Feinberg of Samuel Goldwyn Films and WME Independent with just two producers.
