IFA is going on right now. While not as immense as MWC, it’s still a notable event, and top companies are showing off their latest and greatest creations. ASUS is not letting this event slip through its fingers, as it just took the veils off of six new AI PCs at IFA.
ASUS just unveiled six new AI PCs
There’s not a lot going on in the way of phone announcements at IFA, but you can expect there to be a fair amount of AI goodness. We’re starting to see what the AI computer can do. Controversial features (like Microsoft’s Recall) aside, this looks like it’s going to be a pretty popular platform. ASUS, being a computer company, is ready and set to take the AI computer market by storm.
The company announced several laptops along with a new mini desktop.
ASUS NUC 14 Pro AI
Starting off with the desktop, the ASUS NUC 14 Pro AI was built with AI in mind, and it’s a compact powerhouse. The computer is using the Intel Core Ultra 9 Processor (Series 2). It uses a multi-architecture CPU, GPU, and NPU setup, and this helps it achieve up to 120 TOPS of performance.
It’s a powerful processor, so you can expect exceptional performance, but the company is focusing on AI performance. The NPU alone can deliver up to 48 TOPS, and this will give it top-of-the-line AI performance. That’s important for on-device AI processing. The ASUS NUC 14 Pro AI is so focused on AI that it actually has a Microsoft Copilot button on the front of the device. That’s a pretty odd addition, but hey, it’s there if you need it.
What’s as important as what’s inside is what’s on the outside. Starting off, the computer is pretty compact, coming in at only 130 x 130 x 34 mm. It has four USB-A ports, two USB-C ports, and an HDMI port, an Ethernet port, and a headphone jack.
The body of the computer is sturdily built, gaining a MIL-STD 810H protection rating. So, this is a well-built computer. Other features include a fingerprint scanner on the device, LPDDR5x RAM, Wi-Fi 7 support, Bluetooth 5.4, and a built-in speaker.
Zenbook S 14
Now, let’s talk about some laptops. The Zenbook S 14 uses the same Intel Core Ultra i9 as the mini desktop, so you’ll be getting the same top-notch performance. This includes amazing AI performance. It also has a dedicated Copilot button, but this one is on the keyboard, where it makes a bit more sense.
But, you’re not only going to use this computer for typing in prompts! You’re likely going to use this computer for some content creation and consumption. This is why it comes with a big and beautiful 3K Lumia OLED display that runs at 120Hz. It’s one of the best displays you can get on a laptop, and it will give you an amazing viewing experience.
The media consumption experience is only made better by the set of four speakers. They’ll give you some great audio.
Moving onto the ports, this computer has a USB-A port (3.2 Gen 2) along with two USB-C ports (Thunderbolt 4), an HDMI 2.1 port, and a headphone jack. Unfortunately, there’s no Ethernet port, so that’s something to keep in mind.
The Zenbook S 14 comes in two colors (Scandinavian White and Zumuaia Gray), is 1.1cm thick, and also has the MIL-STD 810H protection rating.
Vivobook S 14
This computer isn’t quite as powerful as the abovementioned computer, but it’s still a beast of a computer. The Vivobook S 14 comes with the Intel Core Ultra i7 (Series 2) processor. That doesn’t mean that this computer is a slouch when it comes to AI processing. Its NPU is able to reach up to 47TOPS, so you won’t see much of a dip in AI processing compared to the aforementioned computers. Just like the other computers, it has a dedicated key to summon Copilot.
If you’re looking for longevity, you’ll find it with this computer. You can get up to 27 hours of battery life. Obviously, your mileage will vary, so you shouldn’t expect to get quite that many hours.
As for the display, you’re looking at a 3K screen (2880 x 1800) Lumius OLED HDR display that runs at 120Hz. It covers 100 of the DCI-P3 color gamut. It’s a very sharp and colorful display for your video-watching needs.
Moving onto the ports, you have two USB-A ports (3.2 Gen 1), two USB-C ports (Thunderbolt 4), an HDMI 2.1 TMDS port, a MicroSD card reader, and a headphone jack. There’s no Ethernet port, but these should suit your needs.
This metal laptop comes with the MIL-STD 810H protection rating, so you know that it’s going to survive throughout the years of usage. That’s impressive, as it’s only 1.39cm thick.
Vivobook 14/16 Flip
This is a computer for creatives. The Vivobook Flip series consists of the 14-inch variant and the 16-inch variant. Just like the abovementioned Vivobook computer, the Flip computers use the Intel Core Ultra 7 (Series 2). So you’re not lacking in the power department.
The display on this computer isn’t as impressive as the abovementioned computers, but it’s more impressive at the same time. These laptops come with FHD displays at 60Hz. So, they’re pretty standard displays, but they still use the same Lumia OLED technology. It still covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut.
The remarkable thing about the display is that it can rotate 360°. This means that you can flip it to use as a tablet or use it in tent mode. This instantly makes it a great laptop for artists who want to draw on their screens. It’s also for people who want to watch content with the keyboard behind the screen (stand mode) so it doesn’t get in the way.
The large 70Wh battery can get you up to 25 hours of battery life, but don’t expect to reach that number. As for the ports, you’re getting a USB-A port (3.2 Gen 1), two USB-C ports (one Thunderbolt 4 and one 3.2 Gen 2), an HDMI 2.1 port, a MicroSD card reader, and a headphone jack.
This laptop comes in two sizes. One is a 14-inch model and one is a 16-inch model.
ExpertBook P series
This is the computer to get if you’re a professional who’s looking for a major business partner. The ExpertBook P series consists of the ExpertBook P5, P3, and P1. The most powerful of the bunch is the P5. This computer comes with an Intel Core Ultra processor to power it. The model or processor you get will vary depending on your region. Either way you slice it, you’re going to be getting some serious AI chops. You’ll be getting at least 47 TOPS of AI performance.
The ExpertBook P5 comes with a 2.5K display with a fluid 144Hz refresh rate. You’ll be getting a great viewing experience.
There’s no doubt that this is a business-grade device. It comes with up to 32GB of RAM and up to 3TB of storage. Along with that, it comes with Windows 11 Pro pre-installed and Wi-Fi 7 support.
You get two USB-A ports (3.2 Gen 1), two USB-C ports (Thunderbolt 4), an HDMI 2.1 port, a headphone jack, and a Kensington Nano Security Business. This is the computer to get if you want it all.
The other models in the series will have a variety of specs like the Intel Core i7 and 1TB of storage for the ExpertBook P1.
