Just yesterday, Motorola launched the Edge 50 Neo smartphone with a premium design and a handful of GenAI features. Alongside the new upper-range offering, Motorola also expanded the range of its budget G series smartphones. The latest additions to the series include the Motorola Moto G55 and Moto G35. Both are packed with 50MP primary cameras, fast charging capabilities, and support for 5G networks.
Motorola Moto G55 is the more premium of the duo
The Motorola Moto G55 is the more premium addition to the Moto G series of devices. The phone flaunts an optional vegan leather finish on the back and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The handset boasts a 6.49-inch FHD+ LCD screen panel that offers a 120Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
Under the hood, the G55 packs an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 7025 SoC that’s based on the 6nm fabrication process. The chipset works in tandem with an IMG BXM-8-256 GPU and 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM.
The device comes with 256GB of native storage. Notably, you can increase the storage up to 1TB by inserting a microSD card. Software-wise, the phone boots Android 14 out-of-the-box and gets Moto Secure & Family Space capabilities. The company has packed the phone with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging technology.
For imaging, the Moto G55 flaunts a 50MP primary camera at the rear with an aperture of f/1.8 and OIS. There’s also a secondary 8MP ultra-wide autofocus lens with f/2.2 aperture as well. The phone gets a 16MP selfie camera that’s placed in a hole on top of the display. Notably, the new G series offering also boasts a water-repellent design.
The more affordable Moto G35 gets a Unisoc SoC and 18W fast charging support
Moving on to the Moto G35, the more affordable offering is powered by an octa-core Unisoc T-760 processor. The phone features the same resolution and refresh rate as the G55, but it has a bigger 6.72-inch display. This one comes in two RAM and storage variants – 4GB / 8GB and 128GB / 256GB.
Notably, the budget Moto G35 offers similar rear and front cameras as the Moto G55. It also offers Android 14, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for security, 5G connectivity, and a water-repellent design. It is fitted with the same 5,000mAh battery as the G55, but the fast charging capability is reduced to 18W.
Moto G55 and G35 pricing starts at around $220
Coming to the pricing, the Moto G35 will be available at a starting price of €199 (around $220). As for the G55, it will set the buyers back by €249, which roughly translates to $275. The G35 comes in Twilight Purple, Smoky Green, and Forest Grey color variants.
The more premium G55 will be up for grabs in Leaf Green, Guava Red, and Midnight Black colorways. They will be initially going on sale in European countries soon.
