The company is pitching it as “the perfect tool for living your best life and doing trade shows using your smartphone.”
You won't find any social media app, but you can also make calls and send text messages. When flirting with the device, you will be accompanied by a voice from “Oi Barbie” before flirting. Cobra Malibu Paying homage to the OG mobile gaming icon, its keyboard (in “Barbie pink,” obviously) features hidden designs like palm trees, hearts, and glow-in-the-dark flamingos. Because Why the hell not?!
The Barbie Phone has a 5-megapixel camera with flash that “delivers authentic, not Y2K-style, photos.” It comes with two replacement covers for dad. The covers include one paying homage to “the colorful Barbie Totally Hair doll from 1992” and another with a moving heart design.
Also in the box is a phone bracelet with lots of pastries that you can decorate with things like a mini Patim or a “Barbie-sized Bonica.” You'll also receive sparkly jewelry and vintage Barbie stickers (including flowers, flamingos, and rainbows) to decorate or call her however you like. Naturally, the phone has a Barbie-themed UI (described as “painfully easy to navigate”) and themed wallpapers and app icons. And since HMD is positioning the device as a smartphone, it includes a best-in-class software app.
The Barbie phone will be available October 1 for $129, will ship unlocked and will be available for activation on AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon soon. You can pre-order it. HMD website Starting September 23rd.
