Gmail is arguably one of the best email apps and is used by most Android users. When it comes to adding features, Google has been very generous with Gmail. The Mountain View giant has supercharged the Gmail Android app with multiple Gemini-powered enhancements. It can help you with drafting an email to summarize email threads and do a lot more. Now, Google is officially rolling out the new quick reply UI for all Gmail users on Android.
Gmail gets the most anticipated quick reply option as part of the latest UI revamp
It’s not that we haven’t seen the quick reply UI in Gmail for Android before. Late last year, there were reports about Google testing the new interface to make users reply faster in Gmail. The latest UI revamp within Gmail now adds the quick reply box right below the email conversation. This will eventually make it easier for you to draft and reply while referring to the subject within the email you may receive.
Earlier on Gmail for Android, you could see three different options “Forward,” “Reply,” and “Reply all” buttons below each email. Although there was a Reply button, tapping the same used to open a new reply window making it difficult for you to view the original email thread. But, with the new UI taking over, that won’t be a problem anymore.
You can also expand the text input window to take over the screen when typing a long email in Gmail’s new quick reply UI. That’s not all, you will also see a bunch of formatting options over there. Besides, you’ll be able to tap the “Reply” button from within the text input window to select between the “Forward,” “Reply all,” and “Change recipients” options.
The feature is now live for users with personal Google accounts
Google in an official announcement post adds that the feature is live for personal Google accounts and Workspace Individual users. However, the quick reply UI will gradually roll out for Workspace accounts over the next few weeks. It is worth noting that Google won’t let you revert to the older layout. So, if you are not a fan of the new Gmail UI with a quick reply option, there’s not much you can do.
Moreover, Google says that the new quick reply UI in Gmail will roll out for iOS users later this year. At the time of writing this, we can already see Gmail’s new quick reply UI in one of our Android devices. You can check the screenshot attached below.
