Disney has been fined $36,000 after a cast member on the Marvel series “Homem Maravilha” died from a fever.
A Cal/OSHA investigation concluded that the wooden walkway where lighting technician J.C. “Spike” Osorio, 41, fell was “deteriorated” and collapsed “suddenly and without warning.”
The fatal accident occurred on February 6 on Stage 3 of the Radford Studio Center in Studio City.
“The deteriorating book has been fundamentally weakened by health and environmental conditions and repeated stress loads over many decades,” said a statement from the agency, which imposed two $18,000 penalties each against the Marvel console that Disney gives to Disney.

The family’s attorney, Erika Contreras, told Variety that her citations “confirm that Mr. Osorio’s death was 100 percent preventable.” She added: “It also confirms that Radford Studio Center was unable to properly maintain, repair and inspect its facilities. Unfortunately, it is either Mr. Osorio or Mr. Osorio who paid the ultimate price for Radford’s failure.”
Hackman Capital Partners, which bought ViacomCBS's study in 2021 for $1.85 billion, did not comment on the sixth exhibit.
In February, the company said it was “deeply saddened” by Osorio's death and that it continued to “fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation.”
Osorio, who was a member of IATSE Local 728, also worked in the films “A Torre Negra” and “Homem-Formiga e Vespa,” as well as in television series such as “Golias,” “Mayans MC,” and “American Born.” “Chinese.”
