Google TV is arguably one of the best streaming platforms with a bunch of content that keeps you entertained. However, like any other app or service, it also acts weird and sometimes troubles users. Over the past few weeks, some Google TV users have been noticing a “Loading error” on the home screen. Unfortunately, the issue has plagued the masses over time.
Google TV users are reportedly getting an annoying “Loading error” message on the homescreen
Chromecast with Google TV and other Google TV devices including Walmart’s Onn boxes are reportedly showing a “Loading error” message making the homescreen inaccessible for users. That’s not all, even TV sets with Google TV and Android TV built-in are facing the same issue. Since the homescreen offers recommendations, ads, and other apps, an issue plaguing the same is undoubtedly frustrating for the users.
Today, folks over at 9to5Google spotted a Reddit post from three days back. The Reddit user posted the image of Google TV’s “Loading error” and added that the issue has been there since the June 1st update version STTL24058.005.1201102. You can check the image below.
Not only this issue has plagued the “For You” recommendations but also other sections of the Google TV homescreen. Let’s not forget that this issue has been there for a few weeks now. There are a bunch of posts on Reddit regarding this issue as we write.
Worth mentioning that the reason behind the prevailing issue is unclear as of now. 9to5Google notes that the possible reason could be some buggy server-side update which accidentally rolled out to the users over the period. Not to forget, a similar issue was reported earlier which affected the Google TV mobile app as well. However, it was caused by some kind of outage back then, and has been fixed since.
Google has been rolling out a fix since August 16 to counter the issue
If you are also experiencing an issue with Google TV’s homescreen showing “Loading error,” you can try a quick trick. All you need to do is sign out from your account and sign back in. If you are in luck, the issue might go away. Many users have reported that even a full factory reset doesn’t fix the problem. This gives a hint about the severity of the problem.
All that said, the good news is that Google has been rolling out a fix for the issue since August 16. Like always, it might take some time for it to reach your device. Therefore, all you can do is wait for the time being.
