New Line will co-finance and distribute the new horror film “They Will Kill You,” a new horror film from Nocturna Pictues, which was formed earlier this year by Andy and Barbara Muschietti and Skydance.
They're Going to Kill You, directed by Kirill Sokoloff from a film by Sokoloff and Alex Litvak, stars Zazie Beetz as a woman who responds to a government ad seeking help. The film is set in a mysterious, seemingly unremarkable New York area whose ownership has been confirmed by several disappearances over the course of two years.
David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti and Dan Kagan will produce “They’re Gonna Kill You,” with Russell Ackerman, John Schoenfelder, Sokoloff, Litvak and Carl Hamby serving as executive producers.
The film is a sequel, as Muschietti's team was responsible for New Line's “IT,” still the most popular horror film of all time. They also created the “IT Chapter Two” sequence for the study. Both are based on Stephen King's romance novels from the same era.
New Line also hosts The Conjuring universe, which recently announced the fourth and latest film in the series. The many films in the Invocação do Mal franchise, which includes spin-offs like A Freira and Annabelle (both full-length franchises), have grossed over $2 billion at the worldwide box office.
Nocturna is described as producing “high-quality horror assets for a global audience, both in theaters and streaming,” without an official statement.
