Republican candidate Donald Trump said that Christians who will vote in the presidential election scheduled for next November will agree that everyone will have no choice but to vote again.
Trump spoke at an event in Florida organized by the conservative group Turning Point Action.
“Christ, you have to go out and vote. Just do this. In four years, I want to know, everything will be saved, everything will be good. You don’t want to vote anymore, Minha Linda Christ, you love Christ, you love Christ, you love to say and vote for four years, you won’t be able to vote again, we solved this. We won’t have to vote,” Trump said.
It's not clear whether the former president, who faces charges of inciting the 2020 Capitol riot and trying to overturn his 2022 election defeat, wanted to make those remarks.
Kamala Harris's campaign did not directly address the comments, but spokesman Jason Singer called her public rhetoric “bizarre” and “reactionary.”
Trump had previously said he would be a dictator for a day on the southern border as Mexico returns to power in November. He later dismissed his comments as unfortunate.
The US presidential race began after President Joe Biden replaced his vice president Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party's nominee last week. Harris's entry into the fray has significantly undermined Trump's leadership, according to recent polls.
