Gemini takes center-stage in leaked Google Pixel 9 Promo Video

Google is set to announce the Pixel 9 series on August 13, but we have our hands on the company’s promotional video for the Pixel 9, ahead of that announcement. All thanks to Onleaks. The video clearly shows that the hero color this year is going to be the rose-colored Pixel 9. This would be the first time that Google has ever done a pink Pixel, likely in an attempt to reach a larger audience this year.

The video also ends by showing the other colors of the Pixel 9, including the green and obsidian colors. However, the Porcelain color does seem to be missing here. We do know that Porcelain is coming, as we have already published renders of that specific color.

A big part of this video is about Gemini; in fact, it even ends “With Gemini” and then goes onto the Google logo. So it’s quite clear that Gemini is going to be a big part of this phone, as expected. We have seen this feature show its face before in previous leaks as well as Pixel Screenshots. This feature is described as a watered-down version of Microsoft’s Recall feature (that has been indefinitely delayed). Basically, remember everything, so you don’t have to.

Magic Editor is getting an upgrade with Pixel 9

Google is also showing off some changes to Magic Editor. Basically, what Google is showing here is that you are able to describe what you want to change, and Magic Editor will do that for you. For instance, this video shows the background changing to a dramatic sunset, currently with Magic Editor. Currently, with Magic Editor, you don’t have a lot of input about changing the image other than removing and resizing objects. So this is going to be a really nice change. It looks a lot like what Photoshop has added recently.

A big omission that we’re seeing here is that the “Add Me” feature that was shown in the Pixel 9 Pro video. It’s likely that Google is keeping that exclusive to the “Pro” models due to either the addition of the telephoto camera, or the extra RAM, or perhaps both.

Finally, Google also shows off the fact that the Pixel 9 will indeed get seven years of updates, just like the Pixel 8 series. And that’s the Pixel 9 in a nutshell. Some pretty useful hardware and AI upgrades this year.
