The Apollo DSP system is now available for network audio professionals in the form of the Universal Audio Apollo x16D audio interface.

After making the UAD plug-ins available natively, Universal Audio has pivoted into the realm of network audio systems for live sound situations and studio complexes.

The Apollo x16D marks a milestone for us. Networked audio processing plays a critical part of UA’s future, and Dante makes realtime UAD processing possible for more Apollo users, both in front-of-house live sound applications and in networked audio and post-production studios.

The Apollo x16D is an expandable 18 x 20 24-bit 192 kHz Dante audio interface (with AES67 mode at 48 kHz) with a HEXA-core DSP processing platform with a choice of over 200 UAD plug-ins.

The Dante network format allows the chaining of up to four Apollo x16D interfaces for 64 channels with real-time DSP. Furthermore, the x16D is compatible with existing Thunderbolt Apollo interfaces, giving you expandability with the flexible Dante format.

Besides the monitor XLR outputs, the X16D has AES/EBU I/O ports for digital hardware as well as word clock I/O on the rear panel. In studios, there is support for Dolby Atmos, Auro-3D, and Sony 360 Reality Audio formats with up to 9.1.6 monitoring for immersive audio systems.

Audinate and Universal Audio were both founded by people with a passion for music. I’m delighted to be working with Bill and UA to deliver leading real-time signal processing with Dante on the Apollo x16D. Musicians and professionals often work across live events, recording, and post-production. The Apollo x16D with Dante is ideally suited to deliver cutting-edge networking and processing wherever musicians and professionals find themselves working and creating.

Aidan Williams, CEO of Audinate.

The Apollo x16D is currently available from Thomann in the Essentials+ (with over 20 UAD plug-ins) and Ultimate+ (with over 100 UAD plug-ins) editions.
