Alongside the regular Galaxy Z Flip 6, Samsung introduced a special edition Flip 6 to celebrate its Olympics partnership. Sadly, this Olympic-themed foldable with unique customizations is not for sale. The company made these phones exclusively for the athletes participating in this year’s sporting fest in Paris, France. But if you are lucky enough, Samsung has another limited edition Flip 6 on sale. It’s the Galaxy Z Flip 6 Doraemon Special Edition.
Samsung launches the Galaxy Z Flip 6 Doraemon Special Edition
If the name isn’t already revealing enough, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 Doraemon Special Edition is a foldable made for Doraemon fans. The phone comes in a special box featuring the iconic fictional character in the Japanese manga and anime series of the same name. The retail box also includes some special goodies that every Doraemon fan would love, including a magnetic phone stand. Additionally, you get a free Flipsuit Case with a Doraemon card.
If you are unfamiliar with Samsung‘s Flipsuit Case for Flip foldables, it is a clear case with a special NFC card insert. You slide the interchangeable card between the case and the phone’s lower back panel. The device then uses NFC to display a matching wallpaper on the cover screen. You can buy more cards and download those special wallpapers from Samsung’s website. In this case, everything is themed to Doraemon for obvious reasons.
Samsung also offers a free Doraemon Special Edition Tote Bag and a 65W USB PD charger with every pre-order of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 Doraemon Special Edition. And these customizations aren’t limited to the hardware side of things. The phone comes with a special Doraemon theme pre-installed. Samsung customized the theme with matching graphics for the lock screen, home screen, app icons, and the opening animation (100% Friends-Calling Bell).
The device isn’t available globally
Unfortunately, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 Doraemon Special Edition isn’t available as widely as the regular model. As of this writing, Samsung has only released it in Hong Kong. The company hasn’t said a word about its global release. But if you are in Hong Kong or plan to import it, you better hurry up. The Korean firm has made only 800 units of this unique foldable. They are available on a first come first serve basis, so the stock may be depleted anytime now.
As far as the price is concerned, it costs HKD 10,698 (approx. $1,370) and comes with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage (doesn’t exist in other configurations). For comparison, the regular Galaxy Z Flip 6 (12GB+512GB) costs HKD 9,698 in Hong Kong. The device is available online through Samsung’s website and offline through Samsung Experience Stores and select third-party retailers. Pre-orders are eligible for a free one-year Samsung Care+ subscription.
