Make Noise Bruxa brings the unique “Time/Filter Experiment” from the Strega synthesizer to your Eurorack system! But this new module, which was once again developed in collaboration with Alessandro Cortini, is a lot more than just a delay. Thanks to multiple feedback paths and filters, Make Noise Bruxa offers loads of creative sound design opportunities.

Make Noise released the Strega synthesizer in 2021 in the same form factor as the 0-Coast and 0-Ctrl. Three years later, the manufacturer has now pulled the unique delay/filter combination from Strega and made it available separately as the Bruxa Eurorack module. However, the layout and connectivity have been adapted slightly to offer more creative patching possibilities in a Eurorack context.
Bruxa is a hybrid module that contains both analog and digital elements. At its core is a multi-tap delay with over a dozen feedback paths, each of which is equipped with multiple filters. While Bruxa is of course capable of classic delay sounds, its true strength lies in creative sonic experimentation, saturation, and degradation.
According to Make Noise, the Time parameter offers a wide and smooth range. In addition to a Time CV input, there’s a linear FM input, which introduces flutter to the delay time. You can then shape the sound of the repetitions using the Absorb and Filter controls, both of which are also CV-controllable. Make Noise says that all CV inputs accept audio rate signals. This should allow for some pretty wacky sounds!
In comparison to Strega, Make Noise Bruxa offers two new CV outputs. While I’m not entirely sure which signals they carry at this point, they lend themselves to creative patching, either within Bruxa or externally.
It’s great news that this unique effect is now available outside of Strega. If getting creative with filtered delay is your thing, Make Noise Bruxa will be a wonderful addition to your Eurorack system.
Price and availability
According to Make Noise, Bruxa is a “special release” (whatever that means). You can now pre-order the module for $399. The manufacturer says that it will begin shipping to retailers in October 2024.
