Focusrite Clarett+ 4Pre
The Focusrite Clarett+ 4Pre is an 18 in / 8 out 24-bit 192 kHz compact USB-C audio interface with a.range of connectivity options. For starters, there are four XLR combo preamps modelled on the legendary ISA110.
Furthermore, the Clarett+ 4Pre has the AIR feature on each of the four preamps and a pair of independently controlled headphone outputs on the front panel. Meanwhile, the rear panel offers four additional TRS inputs and outputs, as well as the digital I/O.

Focal Solo6
The Focal Solo6 is the latest version of the French manufacturer’s renowned nearfield monitor. Its 2-way bi-amplified design uses a 6.5-inch TMD (Tuned Mass Damper) woofer (80W) and a 1.5-inch beryllium tweeter (50W).
Interestingly, the Solo6 also has a unique Focus mode that allows you to bypass the tweeter and crossover. Instead, the main driver functions as a full-range speaker, providing a similar listening experience to a cube monitor.
On its rear panel, the Solo6 has a room EQ section with high and low shelving filters, a 160 Hz low-mid band, and a high-pass filter with selectable frequency range.
Shure SM7B
If you’ve ever spent time watching YouTube videos, you’ve seen and heard this popular broadcast microphone. For years, the Shure SM7B was the standard in radio before it spearheaded the creator boom with podcasting and live streaming.
However, the SM7B is also an ideal choice for home recording. Because of its clarity and detail, as well as the midrange boost feature, it produces excellent results capturing vocals, acoustic guitars, and amp cabinets.
The only drawback is that the low-output dynamic design requires more discrete gain to function than the average audio interface provides. However, this problem can easily be alleviated with the use of a Cloudlifter or another dedicated mic preamp.
Neve 1073LB
The Neve 1073LB is a 500-series module version of the famous 1073 mic preamp. Its main feature is the precise stepped potentiometer that gives you 60 dB of mic gain or 30 dB of line gain in 5 dB increments.
With the XLR combo input on the front panel, you can connect a wide range of microphones and instruments. Meanwhile, the impedance switch optimizes the gain for different vintage and modern mic standards (1.2kΩ and 300Ω).
In addition, the 1073LB has an output control, so you can finely tune your recording level. This allows you to overload the input and unlock the classic warmth this preamp is known for.
Warm Audio WA-1B
The Warm Audio WA-1B is a far more affordable recreation of the widely used Tube Tech CL 1B tube compressor. Due to its incredibly transparent but present sound, it has been the first choice of producers and engineers for Pop, Hip-Hop, and RnB recordings.
Even when you dial in more aggressive settings while tracking, the tube circuitry produces a warm, detailed sound without artifacts. Besides the pleasing way it manages high frequencies and shapes transients, the WA-1B simply sounds musical, especially on vocals.
Besides tracking, you can also use the WA-1B as a de-esser with its sidechain circuit. Here, the variable ratio, attack, and release settings will allow you to perform surgery on any resonant signal in your mix.
