RedMagic to unveil gaming laptop powered by an RTX 4070

RedMagic has started to tease a gaming laptop on its official Weibo feeds, and it looks like the company is gearing up to announce the laptop this month. RedMagic up to this point has been mostly focused on releasing gaming smartphones, although it does offer a few products that aren’t related to phones at all. In fact, a gaming laptop wouldn’t be the first time that RedMagic entered into the PC gaming market. It currently offers a 4K gaming monitor (sold out), as well as a gaming keyboard, gaming mouse, and gaming mouse mat.

That being said, this would be the first time that the company has ventured to create an actual gaming PC. If its laptops are even half as good as its gaming phones, it’ll likely be a success. The RedMagic 9 Pro was a pretty good piece of hardware. Not to mention it’s more affordable than other comparable options. That should mean the gaming laptop from RedMagic will have the same competitive pricing structure. However, there is no confirmed price point right now. Not even a rumored one.

RedMagic may reveal pricing information at its official announcement event, but there’s also no guarantee the laptop will be released globally, or even in the US. As for specs, there’s not a whole lot known about specifics yet, but they are a few key details that have popped up.

The RedMagic gaming laptop may come with an RTX 4070 GPU

RedMagic has teased the laptop on its Weibo account, but those teasers don’t have any specs info. Nor do they mention that the product is even a laptop, even if it is fairly obvious. There are still some specs details to keep in mind though, thanks to a Geekbench listing for the upcoming machine. According to NotebookCheck, the Geekbench listing reveals that the laptop will be powered by an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU. The listing also shows that RedMagic will be going with the Intel Core i9-13950HX CPU for the processor.

This is a pretty good CPU for gaming laptops. And it’s mostly found in the top flagship options from other brands. Most of which tend to be on the more expensive side. This could suggest RedMagic’s laptop will be a little pricier. However, it’s also important to remember that this is RedMagic. The company prides itself on offering powerful gaming products that are priced very competitively. The Intel Core i9-13950HX is also a last-gen CPU. So we wouldn’t expect the laptop price to be excessively high.

Geekbench also states that the laptop will have 16GB of DDR5 RAM, and come with a 280W power supply.

There may also be a gaming tablet on the way

A gaming laptop might not be RedMagic’s only new gaming hardware coming. One of the company’s teasers shows a second rectangular device. At first glance, you might think this is just a second display size for its upcoming laptop. However, a closer look seems to reveal what might be a rear camera setup in the top corner.

A laptop wouldn’t have a rear camera setup on the back of the lid. However, the shape of the device in the teaser does appear to be close to the same size as the laptop, if not a few inches off. RedMagic already makes gaming phones running on Android. So it only seems fitting that the natural evolution would lead it to making an Android gaming tablet one day. There’s no guarantee this is what the device is of course. But it seems pretty plausible given the potential camera array and the larger size.
