This week on Guitar Gear Gems, we examine the new Meowdulator synthesizer pedal, which makes cat noises. We also examine the new Jeff Loomis All-Pedal Devil’s Triad Essentials overdrive pedal. Finally, has the real Sex Pistols Les Paul Custom sold at auction?

Meowdulator

The new Meowdulator, designed by Brian Hansen of B’s Music Shop, offers ‘Tabby Tone’ for your guitar. It creates a synthesized cat voice and allows users to access all pedigree through alley cat noises. This unique and somewhat useless pedal was developed in collaboration with Cusack Music.

Moggy Tone

The pedal converts your guitar sounds into eight different “meow” sounds. All of them are slightly annoying, and I doubt I could find any use for any of them. It is possibly an effect pedal for cat lovers and musicians who like to go outside the box (or litter tray).

How Much!!

For only $199.99, you can get eight unusable synthesized cat variations in one compact cat-themed pedal. A bargain or not (depending on your love of cat noises), this pedal is ridiculous at best.

Jeff Loomis

Jeff Loomis has collaborated with All-Pedal on the Devil’s Triad Essentials, a powerful new overdrive pedal. Building on the success of the acclaimed Devil’s Triad, the Essentials offers a streamlined version packed with innovative features.

Sex Pistols Les Paul Custom Guitar sells for $390,000 at Auction

A relic of punk rock history, a heavily-worn 1974 Gibson Les Paul Custom fetched a staggering $390,000 at auction. This guitar’s past is as legendary as its worn finish, having been played by both Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones and New York Dolls’ Sylvain Sylvain

A Punk Excaliber

Initially owned by Sylvain, the Les Paul reportedly landed in the hands of Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren, allegedly as payment for managing the New York Dolls. McLaren then gave the guitar to Jones, who made it his go-to axe during the Sex Pistols’ brief but influential career.

Is it the real one?

The instrument’s battle-worn character reflects its punk rock pedigree. Years of heavy playing left their mark, with the once-Arctic White finish now a worn yellow, accentuated by cigarette smoke and the natural aging process. Cracks, repairs, and even “tan lines” from removed pinup decals add to the guitar’s unique story.

Julien’s Auctions, facilitators of the sale, confirmed the Sex Pistols Les Paul Custom guitar’s authenticity, solidifying its status as an authentic piece of rock and roll history.

I only question its authenticity, as Jonesy has repeatedly said that he has sold Sex Pistols Les Paul Custom and claimed they were the original Sex Pistols guitar. Therefore, it could be another rock and roll swindle…
